Australian Governments agree to improve labelling standards for free-range eggs

Federal, state and territory ministers today agreed that an enforceable national information standard is needed so consumers buying free-range eggs are getting what they’re paying for.

This is a win for consumers, but especially for free-range hens. The RSPCA wants to ensure the information standard addresses hen welfare more broadly as stocking density isn’t the only way to determine good welfare on farm. The RSPCA looks forward to being consulted so that all issues affecting hen welfare are adequately addressed.
